Community events

concert

At Currambena we have regular opportunities throughout the year to get together and enjoy the many aspects of our community.

Most of our socials and cafes are run and organised by the parents in association with Juliana, our coordinator.  The children always enjoy the events that bring the whole community together.

We aim to have a cafe and/or social each term. Please check our calendar for upcoming events.

The Cafe's begin at 2.30pm and generally run till about 3.30 or 4.00pm.

Parents and children prepare a range of delicious contributions and drop them at school in the morning of the cafe, or bring them later in the afternoon if they are able to attend. Tea and coffee is served, and there is a small contribution of $3 per family to cover basic costs.

Please note that we have a 'NO NUTS' policy at Currambena.

Currambena socials are fabulous tradition and a wonderful opportunity for families to get together, share a meal and get to meet others.

They generally start at around 6 pm and finish according to bedtimes, weather and the nature of the occasion. Parents are asked to bring a meal (or a dessert) big enough to feed their family. The meals are placed on a communal table for all to share.

Sometimes school socials coincide with other events allowing for all manner of occasions and great fun to be had. In the past we have had some fantastic celebrations like Boori Pryor's book launch, Vocal Nosh with Peter Lehner, and the end of year play is also celebrated with a community meal.

Being involved

Being Involved

As a community school, becoming involved in the social events at Currambena is a great way to get to know people and learn a little more about how the school runs. For parents with great ideas for events, or who would like to be involved in any way, the first step is to talk to Juliana, our administrator.

Running socials is relatively easy at Currambena, especially with many volunteers. There are a multitude of jobs involved with socials, such as organising, co-ordinating, shopping, bbq'ing, beverages, washing up, and packing up.

Cafe's are much easier, with just the communal baking, setting up and washing up to be done.

If you have any questions, or would like to become more involved please speak with Juliana, or just come and help on the day.
