Preschool Newsletter Week 5

Hello Everyone

This week we have been busy writing toy stories, both individual children’s stories of the toys they have photographed and collaborative group stories involving imaginary toys and some of preschool’s toys.

We have also been having  discussions based on a question posed by a preschool child “Why can’t you hit and punch people when you are angry?” and working on what you can do instead if you feel angry. We have continued talking about the importance of clear messages and what they need to include.

We have also been doing gymnastics – jumping and rolling on the gym mats outside. We have also been doing roller painting and printing. We have been looking at our silkworm eggs with a magnifying glass as some little worms have hatched. Our two male Spiny Leaf Insects have died so we have talked about life spans and what happens to insects’ bodies when they die.

Next Tuesday 21st August 2012 we will be holding a Preschool Parent Breakfast at 8.00am in Preschool. We will be providing tea, coffee and croissants. Please bring a plate of food to share (no nuts or kiwifruit, please). This is an opportunity to read all the children’s stories and meet up with other parents. All are welcome!

Thanks to everyone who has chosen the days they would like for their children to attend preschool next year. Could anyone with a younger sibling who will start preschool next year add their name to the list on the preschool noticeboard?

Fran will be holding a “Preschool to Fran’s” information night on Monday 27th August 2012 at 7.00pm. This is the opportunity to ask questions and get together with other parents.

We will be having Preschool Vision Screening on Wednesday 19th September 2012 at 10.00am. This is for four year old children. If your child does not attend preschool on a Wednesday and you would like their vision screened you are welcome to bring them. Permission notes will be available in September. There is no cost for this.

Thanks to the following people-

  • Amalia and Sonya for the dress-up clothes.
  • Wilfie and Alison for the paper and the microwave.
  • Zachary and Ivanna for the toys.
  • Christine for the bottles.
  • Amanda for fixing our dress-ups and making new silk mats.

Love from Chris. Sue and Michael.
