Wendy’s Group Week 9 Term 2

We are having an interesting time this week working with a different timetable for a number of practical reasons. Monday’s talk from Alexodius was an excellent mixture of politics, culture and Aboriginal history, a perfect introduction to our People, Place, Language and Song unit. And we have Boori visiting tomorrow! We are so lucky to have an established relationship with him. He will no doubt have some old stories to remind us and some new ones from which we will learn. He will be here all day and children will be able to spend as much time as they wish with him.

We are also enjoying Personal Interest Project Presentations this week and so far they have been excellent. Some are in books, some on posters, some are Prezi presentations or  word documents with picture projected on our screen. The variety of topics is amazing! We are experimenting with a different format for written feedback and self-evaluation this time, too, which adds interest.

Next week, we have a band coming to play for us  on Tuesday 26th at 11.30am and our group is going to manage the sausage sizzle for them and for the rest of the school. Then we are going to have a Community Lunch on Friday for the last week of term. Please come along and join us if you can. Lunch will be provided both days.

A couple of requests: If anyone has time to do some cleaning next Thursday or Friday, we will have a list of jobs needing doing. Amongst these are: covering some books I have bought for our group and making cushion covers for some big size cushions which have their calico covers getting dirtier by the day. All help gratefully received.

Meanwhile, have a good week.   Love, Wendy
